This place is definitely a Victoria institution. It’s an old shipping container come take-out fish & chip shop located in Victoria’s inner harbour. Since gaining popularity with locals and visitors alike the line-up is always long (often the one reason why I don’t go too often). They offer a great variety of food options beyond fish and chips such as their famous fish tacones, seafood poutine and mushy edamame (a play on mushy peas) to name a few.
On this particular day my cousin and I waited in line for about 45minutes to order our lunch. We shared the two pc halibut and chips as well as the tuna tacones. We took a seat at one of the bar stools to take in what’s easily the best view in Victoria.
Our meal was ready pretty quickly (about 10mins). The fish really is amazing. The batter is light and crispy and the fish is moist and fluffy. The chips are perfectly cooked too. Typical ‘fish and chip style’ chips, meaty thick cut potatoes. The tacones were good too! Very light and fresh tasting. I’ve ordered some other items from here before that I haven’t enjoyed very much such as the seafood poutine but the fish and chips and the tacones are always a safe bet.
I really like the quality of the food here and the view is priceless. Admittedly the line-up is a deterrence but maybe it will settle down now that summer is over.
